“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.” – Dwayne Johnson
I’ve mentioned it before and here we go again. Have you ever thought to yourself how some people attain everything and some nothing? Heard of the word consistency before? That’s the key. Being able to create a lifestyle where you consistently do little actions daily to create success is no easy task. Of course that is if you are looking at, and stressing about the big picture. I find the secret to consistency is as simple as looking at your daily tasks and making sure they enable you to be consistent. It starts with an understanding that repetition is the mother of all skill. So to repeat things you need to go at it everyday which in turn becomes consistency. It is quite the serious en-devour which at times seems more difficult than it really is. Another secret of consistency is that you need to make sacrifices in order to continue doing one task over and over again.
For example, let’s say you are trying to become a great musician. First you purchase your guitar and have all the motivation in the world. You operate off of that adrenaline for a couple of weeks, maybe even months. Things are harder than you initially thought and you might want to give up. What’s the point in practicing everyday when you could just go out for a drink that Johnny has been nagging you to have for the last little while? Well firstly you need to be emotionally attached to your idea of becoming a great musician. It needs to be your main and basically ONLY purpose. Secondly you MUST be willing to sacrifice what normal people like Johnny are doing. If you do this you will experience a life that normal people can’t. They don’t sacrifice that “night out” every weekend to work on their skill. They won’t sacrifice that 2-4 hours of entertainment a day to work on their skill. This is the key to not only being successful but staying consistent. You will begin to see that your sacrifices will pay off. Just like a farmer you must plant and water your skill seed consistently before it bares you any fruit.
So again, an emotional investment, sacrifice AND setting yourself up for consistency through correct habits will no doubt lead to consistency that has eluded you for so long. Successful consistency. The type that will not wain once your motivation runs low. The type where you will get out of bed through hell or high water, through your sickest of days. You have to have an understanding that the universe WILL pay you (just like the farmer) equal to the efforts you put in. So start now. Whatever you need to get going on your road to success. Evaluate your situation and see what you need to do to consistently wake up every morning to practice your craft. Eliminate those people, the apps and anything that distracts you. When you start paying attention to yourself others will pay attention to you! Good luck and see you on success mountain soon!
